SK5AE
The amateur radio beacon SK5AE (former call sign SK5TEN), 28.290 MHz CW, was established around the year 2000. It is located at the countryside near the historical town Strangnas, at lake Malaren, 60 km west of Stockholm city. Locator JO89KK. At the beginning the beacon equipment was home made, transmitting 5 watts. Today the beacon is a HF-transceiver Yaesu FT-897 running a programmable CW-loop for beacon text. Normally transmitting 25 or 50 watts, but possible up to 100 watts. The antenna is a half wave vertical, 12 meters above sea level. The beacon may temporary be switched off, due to local radio activities and QSOs in the same band.
